Frequently Asked Questions

  • What time is check in/out?

Check-in time is from 4pm, if you arrive before this time, we cannot guarantee to be here for you as the afternoons are when we catch up, go shopping and run errands. We will do our best to meet guests needs and arrange check-in/out outside of these times but this must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance.

Check in/out outside of our normal hours is CHARGED at £25 as a surcharge and payable by cash on arrival only, if not already purchased at the time of booking.

Early Check-In – allows you to check in from 12 noon (normally 4pm)

Late Check-In - allows you to check up until 12 midnight (normally 9pm)

Late Check-Out - allows you to check out up until 12 noon (normally 10am)

These MUST be agreed in advance (subject to availability) if not, an UNAUTHORISED late check in fee of £50 will apply payable by cash only.

Check-in before noon requires payment for the previous night. You are most welcome to drop your bags off from 9am free of charge if arrange in advance. Check out is by 10am on the day of your departure.

We reserve the right to refuse check-in after 9pm. If you have not arrived before 9pm you will be deemed to be a ‘no show’ and your booking will be cancelled. Accordingly, your room will be released for the duration of your stay and may be booked by another guest. For the avoidance of doubt, no refund will be due or given in these circumstances.

  • Do you accept children?

Children aged 12 and above are welcome.  Due to the restrictions posed by the age and construction of the property, we are not equipped to provide for the needs of very small children. We are also not able to put an extra bed in the rooms.

  • Do you accept dogs?

We love dogs but unfortunately we don't have the facilities to accept them.

Whilst on the subject of animals, we also can't accept hens, stags, cats, cows or elephants!

Pet friendly accommodation can be searched for in Google.

  • Which room is the best?

Each of our nine rooms are completely different and it really depends on your taste and how you plan to use the room - do you prefer a bath, larger room, cheaper room and so on.

The Superior Suite is our largest room at the top of the house. We then have 2 Deluxe family/triple rooms, followed by 5 Deluxe double/twin rooms including our cellar room with the whirepool bath! Lastly we have our compact and bijou single room.

In total we can sleep 19 people.  Have a look at our  "Rooms" page for photos and details on each room.

  • How does your Best Rate Guarantee work?

You won't find a better rate advertised anywhere else on the internet.

In the unlikely event you find a cheaper published online rate on another public channel within 24 hours we will match the rate you’ve found and give you a further 10% discount.

If you think you've found a lower price for an equivalent room on the same booking conditions, please call or email us and we'll match the price.

Please see https://www.springfieldhousebnb.co.uk/best-price-guaranteed for more details.

  • I'm celebrating a special occasion - how can you help?

Springfield House is a special place to stay and as such, many of our guests are celebrating an event such as a birthday, anniversary or honeymoon whilst staying with us.

To help make your stay even more special, we're happy to add flowers, chocolate or a bottle of bubbly to your room prior to your arrival. Please let us know your ideas and budget and we will try our best to arrange something suitable.

  • Do you have a ground floor / accessible bedroom?

Disabled Access - Sadly we can not accommodate guests who are not able to manage stairs comfortably, as currently all our bedrooms are either on the upper floors and there is no lift or our cellar room which has stairs in the entrance.

  • Do you offer a single person discount?

We offer a single person discount up to £20 per night for a Deluxe double/twin room for single occupancy.

  • How do I find you?

Take a look at our Map & Directions page where there are links to Google maps. Or click on the link in the pre-arrival email we send you 4 days before check in.

Please note, searching ‘Springfield House B&B’ in Google or Apple Maps can often be more effective than using a postcode in Sat Nav systems. As the postcode will lead you to the back of the church down the road!

  • What's the difference between a hotel and a B&B?

A hotel usually offers traditional hotel services such as a 24 hour reception and room service, a restaurant, concierge, gym, swimming pool and so on.  A B&B is personally run by the owners who live on site and will do everything from check in to cleaning your room and cooking your breakfast.  A B&B will not normally provide any hotel services.

A guest house is a larger property, usually offering ten or more bedrooms.  It may still be run by the owners but with additional staff and may include some hotel features such as a limited evening meal offering or a swimming pool.

However - just to add confusion, not all accommodation describes itself correctly.  Some "hotel"s may turn out to be little more than B&Bs and some B&Bs may offer a lot more than bed and breakfast.  A thorough look at the property website and their TripAdvisor reviews will usually help.
