Quick answers to common questions about staying with us. If you need anything else, just message us or email — we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Standard Times
- Check-in: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Check-out: By 10:00 AM
Flexible Arrival & Departure Options
If your travel plans fall outside our standard hours, we offer the following options (subject to availability):
- Early Arrival (from 12:00 PM): £25
- Late Arrival (9:00 PM – 12:00 Midnight): £25
- Late Check-Out (until 12:00 PM): £25
Important: These options must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. To maintain a quiet environment for all guests, we do not accept arrivals after 9:00 PM unless pre-arranged.
Unscheduled Late Arrivals & No-Shows
If you have not arrived by 9:00 PM and have not pre-booked a Late Arrival, the booking may be treated as a "no-show" and cancelled without a refund. In cases where an unscheduled late check-in is permitted, a £50 penalty fee will apply.
Bag Drop
You are welcome to drop your luggage from 10:00 AM free of charge. Please arrange this in advance so we can ensure someone is on-site to assist you.
How does check-in work?
Checking in is quick and easy! Springfield House offers a contactless, digital experience designed to get you settled in without the wait.
- Check your inbox: After booking, you'll receive an email and an SMS with a link to our online check-in portal.
- Register online: Simply follow the link to complete your registration details.
- Get your key: The night before your arrival, your digital key will be sent directly to your device.
Note: Completing your online registration before you arrive is essential to ensure you have instant access to the building and your room the moment you get here.
Can I get physical keys?
Even though we are completely digital, if you would rather have physical keys, please let us know and we’ll be happy to assist. Please complete your online registration before arrival so we can have everything ready for you.
Is there parking?
We offer complimentary parking for our guests in the private area behind the house. Please use the furthest available space to ensure everyone has room.
There is ample space for standard vehicles, but if you are travelling in a larger vehicle, please let us know in advance so we can advise the best place to park.
How do I check prices and availability?
Press Book Now on any page, enter your dates, and you’ll see available rooms with prices for those dates.
If no rooms show and a calendar is displayed, we may be full or there may be a minimum stay in place. Try alternate dates or increasing the number of nights.
Do you accept children?
Children aged 12 and above are welcome. Due to the age and construction of the property, we are not equipped to provide for very small children and we can’t add an extra bed to the rooms.
Do you accept dogs?
We love dogs, but unfortunately we don’t have the facilities to accept them.
Whilst we’re on the subject of animals, we also can’t accept hens, stags, cats, cows or elephants!
Which room is the best?
Each of our nine rooms is different — it depends on your preferences (bath vs shower, larger room, best value, etc.).
- Superior Suite — our largest room at the top of the house
- 2 Deluxe family / triple rooms
- 5 Deluxe double / twin rooms (including our cellar room with the whirlpool bath)
- Single room — compact and bijou
In total we can sleep 19 people. Visit our Rooms page to compare options.
How does your Best Rate Guarantee work?
You won’t find a better rate advertised anywhere else online.
If you find a cheaper published online rate on another public channel within 24 hours, we will match it and give you a further 10% discount.
If you think you’ve found a lower price for an equivalent room on the same booking conditions, please call or email us and we’ll match the price. See Best Rate Guarantee for details.
I’m celebrating a special occasion — how can you help?
We’re happy to help make your stay extra special. We can arrange flowers, chocolates, or a bottle of bubbly in your room prior to arrival.
Tell us your ideas and budget and we’ll do our best to arrange something suitable.
Do you have a ground floor / accessible bedroom?
Sadly we can’t accommodate guests who are not able to manage stairs comfortably.
All bedrooms are either on the upper floors (there is no lift) or our cellar room which also has stairs at the entrance.
Do you offer a single person discount?
Yes — we offer a single person discount of up to £20 per night for a Deluxe double/twin room for single occupancy.
How do I find you?
See our directions and address on the Contact Us page, or use the link in the pre-arrival email we send 4 days before check-in.
Tip: searching “Springfield House B&B” in Google or Apple Maps can be more effective than using a postcode in sat nav systems.
What’s the difference between a hotel and a B&B?
A hotel often offers services like 24-hour reception, room service, a restaurant, concierge, gym, swimming pool, etc.
A B&B is personally run by the owners who live on site — they’ll often do everything from check-in to cleaning your room and cooking your breakfast, and usually won’t provide hotel services.
A guest house is typically a larger property (often 10+ bedrooms). It may still be owner-run, but may have staff and sometimes a limited evening meal offering.
Not all accommodation labels are used consistently, so checking the property’s website and reviews is always a good guide.
